FluidIntel Senior Management Team
Our senior management team has a strong track record of high achievement in senior roles across engineering, technology development, project management, and financial management.
Duncan has been the Managing Director of FluidIntel since April 2015, bringing a new approach to the management of the company informed by his 25 years’ experience in senior roles in the environmental, energy efficiency, and engineering fields. Duncan has served as Chief Executive Officer for two ASX-listed companies in the energy and environment sector – Environmental Group Limited and Solco Limited – and has operated businesses in over 12 countries. Duncan established Out Performers, an energy management company serving 80 of Australia’s top 200 companies, in 2008, building it to market leader with staff across four offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Jakarta.
Duncan is also responsible for maintaining a wide range of professional alliances within the sector, to ensure that both FluidIntel and Out Performers remain at the cutting edge of the energy management industry. For example, Duncan is on the Board of the ECCA (Energy Efficiency Certificate Creators Association).
While training at the Royal Military College Duntroon, Duncan captained the Australian Combined Services soccer team to many victories and he now plays social soccer as a form of business therapy.
Sean is responsible for leading the strategic direction and the R&D focus of the business, including software and hardware development. This emphasis on continuous improvement and innovation enables FluidIntel to remain the world’s best practice in fuel management systems for the mining sector. Sean’s strategic initiative has enabled FluidIntel’s recent move into the bulk rail transport and bulk fuel supplier sectors.
Sean was one of the co-founders of FluidIntel, and worked with the company’s founding CEO to develop a specialised fuel management system for the mining sector, AdaptFMS. Sean was responsible for the development of AdaptFMS from inception, including industrial design, electronics, and software development. AdaptFMS was launched in 2007 and quickly became the market leader in Australian mining.
Sean has led the R&D impetus since then, overseeing the introduction of the first FMS web application, the first FMS touch-screen controller, the first mining enterprise focused FMS, and the first multi-platform Remote Tank Monitoring solution (among many other innovations). Sean also went on to become FluidIntel’s CEO in 2014.
Previously, Sean was the owner, founder and CEO of the Birrell Group, where he contributed to the initial design and conception of the world’s first carbon fibre operating table, including the design of key user interface components such as the patient positioning remote control which articulated the patient through six ranges of motion before and during surgery. Sean also developed one of the first RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) production lines in Australia to produce components for the operating table and sold the resulting IP to an Australian-based medical devices company.

Adam’s role is business development management, responsible for sustaining and growing the Australian and South Pacific business, with a focus on turning our major Australian clients into major worldwide clients.
Adam comes to this role from an extensive background in product development, where his primary responsibility was to collect and interpret customer requirements and distil these disparate needs into a common set of deliverables to be implemented in Agile development cycles. His key focus was to effectively use and implement leading edge technology to build products that grow with the customer’s business.
Adam has over 24 years’ experience as a leader of highly skilled software and hardware development teams, serving in a number of software development management roles, including running his own web application design and development business, Coretech Aust Pty Ltd, for more than 18 years. Adam also has experience in specifying, installing, and managing networks and applications for corporate clients, gaining hard-won knowledge across roles such as on-site technician, service manager and product owner.
Off duty, Adam has enjoyed competitive sailing for over 18 years, sailing as bowman in offshore ocean races from Sydney to Coffs Harbour, Lord Howe Island, Southport and Hobart. As much as he enjoys racing, the best sailing trips for him are yacht deliveries with his Dad and hopefully one day, all three of his daughters. Adam is a keen practitioner of Tai Chi, which he says improves his sailing and sales – building awareness, balance and adaptability.
